In Europe, this mineral-rich herb is known as "Lucerne. Alfalfa is a common foraging crop for livestock, which has earned the plant the nickname "buffalo grass". Because the herb is abundant in many minerals and vitamins, it is also known as "purple medic" and "father of all foods".
Alfalfa has a pleasant grass-like flavor with a hint of sweetness. Use it alone or in combination with other herb in tea blends and seasoning mixes, or encapsulate the herb as a dietary supplement.
